چکیده
Noting an increase in demand for procedures involving clinical radiosurgery we seek to develop a high spatial resolution thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) allow conduct of vivo dose verification measurements. An associated need is dynamic range exceeding that the well-established LiF (Mg,Ti) phosphor TLD-100, with particular latter being limited performance at elevated doses seen radiotherapy. The work investigates novel GeB co-doped Flat Fibre (GeB-FF) fabricated using modified chemical vapour deposition (MCVD) process, hollow capillary optical fibres (COF) produced from this collapsed down into flat (FF) create strain-related defects. This process has already been demonstrated low sensitivity fibres, notably diagnostic x-ray potentials, Minimum Detectable Dose (MDD) values 0.1 μGy. intent present work, conducted as component safety audit, part hospital periodic radiation protection quality assurance program, examine and compare two forms TL dosimeter, GeB-FF measuring scattered resulting cranial cavity procedures. dosimeters were placed on neck, chest pelvis 20 patients. Using both types raw each site show general accord (±3 mGy 1 σ), covering mean ranging some 10 less than mGy, representing <1% < 0.1% prescribed treatment site. results uncorrected energy response absorbed greater by factors 1.4, 1.2 1.5 pelvis, neck respectively; corrections have shown elsewhere provide much closer agreement.

In vivo dose measurement using TLDs and MOSFET dosimeters for cardiac radiosurgery
In vivo measurements were made of the dose delivered to animal models in an effort to develop a method for treating cardiac arrhythmia using radiation. This treatment would replace RF energy (currently used to create cardiac scar) with ionizing radiation. In the current study, the pulmonary vein ostia of animal models were irradiated with 6 MV X-rays in order to produce a scar that would block ...

Lifetimes are reported for the 6s6p P1, 6s6d D2 and 6s7s S0 levels in Hg-like Tl II, measured using beam-foil excitation. The values obtained were τ(P1) = 0.59 ± 0.02 ns, τ(P1) = 39 ± 2 ns, τ(D2) = 6.5 ± 0.5 ns, and τ(S0) = 3.0 ± 0.4 ns. Isoelectronic trends for line strengths of the resonance and intercombination transitions are studied through comparisons with earlier measurements for Hg I–Bi...
متن کاملNanotechnology in radiation oncology: The need for implantable nano dosimeters for in-vivo real time measurements
Rapidly advancing technology provides successive generations of irradiation techniques and modalities of cancer treatment in radiation oncology. Most of these techniques are able to deliver higher doses per fraction than the standard 2 Gy per day. The complexity of these new techniques involves hundreds of parameters for the delivery of each beam making quality assurance increasingly demanding....

Introduction: One of the useful standard quality assurance techniques in radiation therapy is monitoring entrance doses in in-vivo dosimetry. An overall tolerance limit of 5% of the absorbed radiation dose has been recommended by the International Commission of Radiological Units. The implementation of an in vivo dosimet...
